Women Empowerment Programme

The objective of this program is to empower the vulnerable women through implementing micro-finance, micro enterprise and capacity building programmes

  •    Target group – Women (below poverty line and socially disadvantaged).
  •    Supported by Government, Cooperative Societies, Nationalized Banks
          and other network partners.
  •    Total Number of Beneficiaries – @10,000 women.
  •    Inputs provided: support in availing loans from banks, skill trainings,
          other linkages for income generation programmes.
  •    Major Achievements:
    •           Around 510 SHGs formed in the target area, and 40 federations
                    formed at panchayat level.
    •           1300 members in 40 batches have been trained on
                     Entrepreneurship Development Programmes.
    •           400 members in 11 batches have been given skill training on
                     durkey rearing, soft toys making, palm products, bakery items,
                     cell phone mechanism, manufacturing of home appliance,
                     tailoring & embroidery, screen printing etc.
    •           Average total savings per each group – Rs 24,000
    •           Total loan amount mobilized from cooperatives and banks for
                     SHGs – 5 crores.
    •           The SHGs has been maintaining a repayment rate of 99%
                    during the years.
    •           495 SHGs have been rated as grade "A" by both Tamil Nadu
                    Mahalir Thittam and Nationalised Banks.
    •           Two block level exhibitions conducted to promote marketing
                    of SHGs products.
